Nearly what I thought it was
The Smartbox is going to work out pretty handy, I can tell. I could see this thing replacing the spiral notebook-style greeting card organizer with pockets that I use now for bills.
However, you should probably know before you order that it doesn't come with a magnet pre-adhered to the back for use on metal surfaces. It has two strips of peel off adhesive tape stuck to the back - apparently what they call "adhesive mounting hardware," and a large magnetic rectangle (the "magnetic mounting hardware") included. You can, apparently, just adhere the thing with the sticky strips onto something rather than magnet it to something.. but clearly you'd only get one chance and it would not move again.
What I thought was the obvious choice was to adhere the magnetic part (they give you instructions about which side to stick on, which is essential to enjoying the product IMHO) to the back of the Smartbox and then use the magnet to stick it to the file cabinet. They advertise that you have both choices, though it's probably a rare sort who'd just use the adhesive to put the thing up, rather than the magnet.
I'm a little disappointed that the three hooks on the front are so close together - be prepared to tie strings on things to hang them there. I've managed to hang binder clips on it, but only because it's unlikely to be disturbed where I have it. The "envelope flap" is a puzzler - I'll be thinking about how best to use that. Outgoing mail, maybe, or something.
