Why didn't I install this earlier?!!

Pros:�good use of wall space/high ceilings, looks very sharp, easy to install

Cons:�the only "real wood" option is bamboo

This Elfa desk and shelving system has made my life SO much less messy. Due to a remodeling, I have to put a whole lot more into my office space, and this system helped me make good use of my high ceilings. I have room for my sprawling library of books as well as my work-space accessories. I should have done this earlier, as it opens up the floor space in my office for other uses.

The staff at T.C.S. were very helpful in answering all my questions and in helping me to customize the system for my needs. Any "kit" can be customized so you're not stuck with a system that doesn't perfectly fit your needs. For example, I really wanted white standards, not platinum.

Installing the system was relatively easy, though I recommend a stud-finder (which has nothing to do with horses). You will want to make sure that you mount the rod on which the standards hang onto solid studs, not just drywall or plaster. The rod supports the entire weight of the shelves and everything on them. If you intend to put a lot of books on the shelves, definitely see about using wall-mounted standards rather than hanging standards, for added strength by distributing the weight along the length of the studs in the walls.
