Archival Document Storage Boxes
I purchased this to hold records and photographs which are nearing or exceed 100 years old. When they say "near-museum quality", they are greatly exaggerating.
First, the small box dimensions as given are not correct for the inside of the box. You can subtract almost 3/4" from the totals because the lid is so thick. This means the box was too small for an item I had measured at 12" x 9", which should have fit.
Second, it is difficult to get the seams of the box to fold crisply, and the end product is sloppy looking with considerable gaps in the seams and the sides which bulge out.
Third, the drop-down side feature is virtually non-functional. Attempting to "break-in" the mechanism results in the cardboard quickly fraying and breaking down.
I will say that the materials appear to be decent quality, the cardboard is very thick and the box is sturdy once assembled. Also, the lid does fit well.
In the future I will pony up the cash and buy proper metal-edged archive boxes from sources that actually sell to museums.

These boxes are cheap and disappointing. The cardboard literally split on 2 of the 4 during assembly. They also were crushed on the corners and just overall cheap in quality, and they don't all assemble well.

Much better than a shoebox!
I finally found an affordable solution for heritage items. Fits nicely on elfa 12" shelves, too!

Perfect for my needs
Sturdy, and sized right for over-sized, historic family photographs. Allows me to get them out of frames, and put away for future generations.
