InterMetro® Tower

Our InterMetro® Shelving Tower has five adjustable, ventilated steel shelves, each supporting a generous amount of weight, and will safely hold home electronics, dishes, books - just about anything in any room of the house. We suggest adding a InterMetro® Shelving Drawer or Storage Basket for even more storage possibilities. Place Metro® Clear Shelf Liners on the shelves to prevent smaller items from slipping through. Light assembly required; all hardware included. See more product details below.

  • Steel with an epoxy-coated finish
  • Each shelf supports up to 300 pounds
  • Light assembly required; hardware included
  • Shelves are adjustable in 1" increments

Tiimeless organization! Excellent for small spaces; diverse, great value! Selection of finishes of: chrome, white and black allow you to create your spaces' atmosphere. July 8, 2010
made my closet useable I have veerrry small closets in my 90-yr-old house. Sideways, this fit into one end of the closet in the spare room and now I store linens and blankets, and cleaning supplies, which were all over the house. I love that I can adjust the shelves so easily. I put the lowest shelf about 1.5 feet off the floor so I can store the vacuum underneath. The highest shelf is at the very top, using previously wasted high-up space, so I can put essential-to-the-purpose-but-infrequently-needed items out of circulation. I know the instructions say not to put the lowest shelf so high, but this is 18" wide in a 19" closet, so there's no danger from instability. September 7, 2010
Great small kitchen organizer The 24" tower was easy to put together, holds alot of kitchen things like pots and pans, appliances (my heavy mixer, small microwave, crock pot, etc.) thus freeing up precious counter space and shelves that were not convenient to access these things and were stored in the "laundry" section of my kitchen. It looks clean and organized and in a small kitchen, that's essential. My kitchen appliances are stainless steel and black so I got the silver one that coordinates with everything. Since it is freestanding, you have the option of being able to move it around if you decide to change things around (which I am periodically doing). I love it! September 14, 2010
Strong and solid This shelving unit is rock solid and also attractive. I was repeatedly told how "easy" this was to put together, but I found it rather tricky, until I figured out that I was placing the plastic brackets upside down. December 15, 2010

Are the shelves adjustable?

I wanted to know if I could stick my mini fridge under it and only keep the top three shelves?

Definitely. The shelves held my weight (160 lbs) as I was building them.

I understand that none of the InterMetro products should be climbed on or pulled on, but it is my understanding that they are made to be free-standing (hence the availability of casters). I just want to make sure. I am looking for any literature backing this up.

Thanks!

Answer:
Mine are free-standing. I sat on the shelves as I was building them and they held my weight. I wouldn't sit on them now, though. ;)

We do not recommend using Metro Commercial 4" Industrial Casters with InterMetro components. The 3" InterMetro Casters are made to fit InterMetro Posts. They are listed under product recommendations below.

InterMetro® Shelving inherits its strength and style from the original Metro® Commercial Shelving. Our black, white, and exclusive silver epoxy-coated steel components can be customized for countless storage solutions. Shelves can be adjusted in 1" increments, each supporting 300 to 500 pounds each without sacrificing clean lines and good looks. Combine shelves, posts, rails, hooks, tops, baskets, drawers, and casters to create a shelving solution suited to your individual needs.
