Rated 5 out of 5 by Safer step ladder Just what I needed. The higher rails make it more comfortable for me to use and it seems very stable. October 27, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase Purchased 5-step Aluminium Ladder and was so very pleased. Is lightweight but feels very sturdy. Bought to replace recessed ceiling lights which I could not reach with smaller ladders and the extra top handrail is wonderful to give you the confidence to climb higher. I would definitely recommend this ladder and The Container Store. May 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5-step ladder is great So much easier to use than my old aluminum ladder. I wanted one that is lightweight and easy to close without smashing your fingers. This is it. Very easy to open and close and the steps are plenty wide. Very satisfied with this purchase. So much so, that I just ordered the 3-step ladder as well! April 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best ladder ever! So functional! This is very light so is perfect for any woman or small person who needs to climb a ladder to clean, switch ceiling light bulbs, etc. it is sturdy & also folds slim so it doesn't take much room to store! Love this 5 step(& also 3 step) ladder!!! December 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great step ladder Nice height and easily folded for storage! Great for the kitchen, utility room, or where ever you need that extra height! December 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Trade in your old ladders! The best of the best. Wide steps, light weight and easy to handle. You feel secure and you can even lean on the front. I now have two of the five step ladder and one of the three step. You won't be sorry... November 10, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Ladder, but BEWARE... This is a great ladder - it is light-weight and sturdy. It has one big flaw...plastic feet. They slide on wood floors. If you are standing on the ladder and pushing against something (e.g., cleaning a wall), the ladder will move under you, even with your weight on it. Scary. It works well on carpet, though. Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Ladder! I LOVE this ladder! It is so easy to climb and very secure/solid. I can reach to high areas in my house - even with 10 foot ceilings (and no help from hubby!) I especially like being able to reach high up into closets with the all the ELFA shelves I installed all the way to the top. June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely lightweight Got the 3 step ladder, and it's great. Can be easily moved around with one hand and folds up very easily into a small space. Top step is wide enough to balance on. Love it, great buy. Thinking of getting a second. April 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beset purchase ever!!!!!!!! I love this ladder. It is so light and versatile. I bough it for my closet. We just remodeled it and we needed a ladder to reach higher shelving. This is just perfect!!!!!!!! March 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by SO light and easy to carry around I love this ladder... finally a ladder with some height that I can carry around and use... it does cause some deceiving confidence... it is light, so you have to not get overly confident and stand on the top where you aren't mean to .... but nothing better for a house.. and i use it to reach the very top of my Elfa closet :-) February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5-Step Aluminum Ladders Very Light weight and solid ladder. easy to carry. July 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very light! Very light and extremely easy to use. The hard plastic on bottom doesnt seem very good for hardwood floors so I am careful not to slide it around. July 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by No longer ladder-phobic I bought this about a month ago, and I'm very pleased with it. It's lightweight, so I can carry it easily to wherever I need it. For me, the best part is the long handrail. I don't like heights--and I particularly don't like climbing ladders. But I can HOLD ON when I must reach something on the top shelf or the planters at the top of my patio enclosure. Very reasonably priced. May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Light weight, folds up to < 6". Third step is great to have as a household step stool. I can actually reach the top cabinets near the ceiling! May 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase I bought the 3-step ladder on sale. It's a great buy, so much better than the clunky ladder I had for years. This one is sleek, lightweight, doesn't take up much storage space, and I like the bar at the top too. May 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect! Being a single woman, limited strength, and a "certain" age, this ladder works perfect for me. Light, yet sturdy and a great deal on the price too. I feel safe taking care of tasks requiring a ladder. May 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ladder is a real step up! I am thrilled I finally took the plunge and purchased this terrific ladder. It's lightweight and eliminates the need for lugging a heavy ladder out just to change a light bulb. I have used the exact one at a friend's for years and recently purchased it for use at work and couldn't be happier. I wish I'd done it sooner. I measured the height of the top rung to the ceiling and found that it would work perfectly than the taller, heavier one I had been using for years. A+ all the way! April 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Should Have Bought Another It is gratifying indeed to buy something that has maximum function and quality for a fair price. Great piece of home equipment which will probably outlast me! Good job Container Store! April 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great ladder for my pantry Too bad I did not buy this one first. Sturdy. Not real big. Perfect size. Easy to move around. Love the handle to hold on to for balance. If I had one wish it would be for rubber feet to protect the hardwood floors. I put felt squares on mine. April 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well worth the investment! Being vertically challenged (at 5'4") I often have need for a ladder. I first purchased the 3-Step Ladder a few years ago when they were on sale. It is so lightweight and sturdy! The following year I bought the 5- Step Ladder. I keep one on each floor. A staple in our home; I highly recommend! April 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stable and sleek-looking High enough to reach most places in the home, even for a person of 5' 4". Very stable with the high railing to grab on to. Also looks very sleek and expensive - even though it's not overly pricey. April 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Instant Room expander This ladder makes hard to reach shelves reachable and gave me 40% more room instantly when I was creating a quiliting/sewing room. I now have rarely pulled down batting on very high shelf and made less often used stuff go up up up so that my frequently accessed objects are accessible! It folds up easily w/o pinching fingers and is a great addition to our former "library". April 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by It is the best I have a ladder in every room of my home, sometimes two. I love this ladder and wish I would have found it before I purchased the other 10 step ladders I have. Sturdy, extremely light weight and so easy to store. April 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolutely excellent! If you just need an house ladder to reach high cupboards or bookcases, this is perfect. It's light, easy to use, and the handle at top helps you maintain your balance. April 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic functionality I needed this ladder for work so being light and functional was key. This ladder is so easy to move around, fold up, and is the perfect height for my work. April 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I have both ladders and I feel very comfortable stepping on either one. They give me a feeling of safety and control. Highly recommend this product. April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! I purchased the 3-step ladder. I am disabled somewhat (rods in both arms and legs) and ladders have to be great for me to go on one. This was easy to carry (only 7 lbs) and easy to open. I go up to the second step and can hold on to the top bar easily. It stores in very little space and is very well made. April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic ladder I bought the 5-step ladder and it is fantastic to work with. it is lightweight for women to use and extremely sturdy for those who don't feel comfortable on ladders any more. It was such a great difference from the old heavy clunky ladders with no handle to hold onto that I went back and bought the 3 step ladder as well the next day to use in my kitchen!! Both are great purchases and I am so glad I found these at The Container Store!! April 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome buy Built to last, i'm sure it'll be around for several generations... March 25, 2014

Answer:
I weigh about 255 lbs. and don't feel unsafe at all on the 5 step ladder. It's easy to hold on to and get up high. We have 10 ft. ceilings and I'm only 5'7", so this is by far the best I've found for indoor use. It's lightweight and can hang from the end of an Elfa Shelf.
