Rated 5 out of 5 by Finally got them I had tried last year to purchase these alarms for all my granddaughters, but they were sold out. I was delighted to be able to purchase this year. Three of my granddaughters opened them this weekend and were delighted. One rides the subway and they both jog. They couldn't be happier, which makes me happy! December 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Safety first Nice gadget...easy to carry. Hope I do not need to use it, but traveling or while outdoors, I feel better having it. November 13, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by HOPE it is never used! I bought these for my granddaughters who are graduating and going off to college and just hope they never have to use them, BUT if they do I feel these are excellent safeguards for them. They seem easy to use and a no brainer in an emergency. Thank you. May 16, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Quality I purchased a few for my family members but soon had to return a few. All had the same problem, a small metal piece necessary to make the alarm sound falls off too easily. I would like the alarm to be louder. March 16, 2015

how alarm works

You suggest throwing the alarm. will it work if you don't throw it, but are gripping it? If someone were trying to grab me, I'd want to not be taken away from the alarm but have it on me.

Also wondering how you know it is still working. You said in answering this question from someone else, the only way to know the batteries are still good, is with a different device? If thats the case, should that be an option to buy with this? Love the products concept, but having it working is obviously key to staying safe.

You simply un-clip the Personal Alarm to activate it. You can wear it anywhere - anytime; clip it onto anything or keep it on your keychain. It runs on four replaceable AG10 batteries (included).

Answer:
Throwing it would work but if you are moved away from the alarm people would be drawn towards the alarm and not you.

You could hang it on a string and the person would no know how to turn it off. Their attention would be on the alarm and not completely on you.

Periodically you allow it to sound off, if its loud the batteries are good.

The concept is great yet I do not recommend this model. I purchased some as gifts and many broke. All in the same fashion, a small metal connector falls off.

This product operates similar to a clothes pin. You will squeeze the two end pieces to open the opposite side, and then you will just clip it onto your other garment. To trigger the alarm, you will need to unclip it and let the two ends touch together. Your clothing actually serves as a buffer.

If you need to sound the alarm, just pull the alarm off of your clothing and throw it so that it cannot be easily dissabled.

Our Clip-On Personal Alarm uses an AG10 battery. To test this type of battery, you will need to use a multimeter, which is a device that gauges electric currents and voltage.

How do you open the battery compartment?

I have been trying to open the battery compartment as the battery is said to be replaceable, but I have been prying along the seam on the side, and can not get it to open. Is there a trick to this I'm missing? There are no instructions included regarding this. I really like the product and hope to keep it around for awhile.

Also, do you expect to get any more of these in the near future?

To access the battery, you will need to dislodge the small screws on the back of the product. Since the battery will be dead upon changing it, you will not have to worry about sounding the alarm.

This product is exclusive to our Stocking Stuffer campaign, and will not be carried year-round.
