Rated 5 out of 5 by No unpleasant odor Like this very much. Wish I could get it for use not in a closet. January 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Strange Issue After each season of use and once cake has been at least 90% depleted I have found black, indiscernible somethings stuck in the bottom and on the lower sides of plastic hanging part. whatever it is is extremely sticky and nearly impossible to wash off. I've asked many people including the manufacturer but no one can tell me what it is. I'm guessing that no one has ever looked inside because they're not reusable. June 13, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Effective but smelly These seems to work well - I haven't seen a moth since we put them in the closets, but there is still that unmistakable moth ball smell. Perhaps less pungent than traditional moth products but it's still pretty strong. I put that I would recommend this product only because I haven't found any "natural" or pleasant smelling products (cedar, lavendar, etc) that actually work. April 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Linen scented no-Moth Hanger This item is wonderful in the closets. It easily hangs and does not smell bad at all but gives off a fresh scent.I invest a lot of money in my clothes and it is nice to know that these will keep them in perfect condition. Love them! February 28, 2013

What about silverfish ?

Will these deal with silverfish larvae ? Moth and carpet beetle larvae are the "little devils" which feed on clothing and other items and not the adults you see milling about. . Of course, the adults are laying the eggs..but will these cakes destroy silverfish and their brood, too ? With regard to toxicity, humans & pets, is the CA toxin warning ,listed on every other moth preventative, listed on this product, as well ? Thanks !

Answer:
Hello and thank you for contacting Willert Home Products. The No Moth Linen scented hanger will kill silverfish eggs and larvae infestations in clothing if the vapor is concentrated to a level that will kill the eggs and larvae.

For open areas we recommend using a fogger or spray - SLA Cedar Scented Spray to penetrate open areas in the home and around baseboards, doors and windows. This method will kill adult silverfish but wonâ¿¿t kill the eggs. Simple Boric Acid is effective in killing not only adult silverfish but also hatching nymphs.

Silverfish come out at night to seek food and water. They prefer dry food such as flour, cereals, pasta, and pet food and sizing in paper including wallpaper and book bindings, and starch in clothing. Other important sources of food include household dust, dead insects, and certain fungi also. However, silverfish can live for several months without nourishment. These teardrop-shaped insects are usually silver or brown in color and have three long bristles on their backs.

We recommend taking the following steps to eradicate Silverfish:

Determining If You Have a Silverfish Problem

Seeing the occasional silverfish around your home does not necessarily mean you have a problem, and it can be someone difficult to detect the presence of silverfish as they are very secretive and tend to hide under objects, especially cardboard boxes. They are largely nocturnal, and hide very well throughout the day. As mentioned, they are attracted to moisture, so they are most commonly found within bathrooms, kitchens, and basements. Homeowners are most likely to detect a silverfish infestation if, when they turn on a light in one of these rooms, silverfish dart across the floor or out of the tub. Another way that you can determine that you have a silverfish problem in your home is if you begin to notice the damage caused by their eating habits. Silverfish eat carbohydrates and starches, and are known for damaging wallpaper, cardboard, papers, and other feeding on flour, cereal, and pet food.

Reducing Your Chances of Developing a Silverfish Problem

Controlling humidity and moisture in the home is always a real challenge. If you want to make your home uninhabitable for silverfish, your best plan of action is to keep it as dry as possible. This may mean using dehumidifiers, or having your home inspected for any roof, foundation, or plumbing leaks. You can also reduce the risk of a silverfish infestation by separating them from their favorite food sources. This can mean cleaning any boxes and other clutter from basement and closet floors, and periodically cleaning and dusting bookshelves and desks where papers and books are left sitting. In the kitchen, keep normally boxed foods, such as cereals, in sealed plastic containers instead. Silverfish are also known for eating shampoos, so it can help to clean away residues from your bathtub after your shower.

Answer:
Hello and thank you for contacting Willert Home Products. You must take the outer wrapping off and then place the un-wrapped disc back into the plastic container. Hang the container on the closet rod or place on the top shelf, make sure it is above the clothing. Please contact us again if you have additional questions.

Answer:
Paradichlorobenzene is the ideal chemical to effectively kill moths. It is clean, stainless and leaves no clinging mothball odor. Although it does have a slight odor, this will disappear after a few minutes or airing. The vapor is heavier than air and drifts downward (just a steam is lighter than air and always rises). Moth preventive products should always be placed above stored articles. The heavier gas replaces much of the air in a tightly sealed container or closet and permeates into every thread of fabric.

does anyone know why ? I use them in the Peeve hanging suit bags (dress , coat&gown too) and in the airtight/watertight totes. I am too scared to take any more chances with the silverfish, gnats & carpet beetles that have taken over my 4 story townhouse .

Answer:
Hello ,
It is ok to use garment bags made specially for storing clothing. Trash bags and dry cleaning bags and are not recommended because the air will not circulate properly as the clothes almost cling to those types of bags. The linen moth bar is ideal for use in garment bags.
